Integrative Medicine

This approach to therapy was formulated and incorporated by Duke University. At the core of integrative medicine is the concept of the partnership between patient and healthcare practitioner. With a preference for the least invasive and most natural therapies, the full range of the healing sciences is brought to bear on strengthening your innate healing response by physicians and providers trained in both conventional and integrative medicine. When you have recovered your health and vitality, we will help you maintain your wellness and prevent the onset or recurrence of disease.

Integration for all aspects of life

Some of our clinicians at Amigo Family Counseling (AFC) use and apply Integrative Medicine concepts and practices in individual sessions. This type of work helps clients learn how to reduce stress and emotional conflict, improve joy and self-love, and increase capabilities at work, school, and/or home.

Healthy changes you can feel

Some skills that are targeted are: goal setting for self-empowerment, meal planning and healthy eating practices, walking, breathing, and stretching in sessions with a clinician, and/or using music, movement, and art as a means of further growth.

This Integrative Medicine approach is coordinated with AFC’s efforts to help clients acquire and maintain life skills.  These skills help clients with life goals such as future independent living, schooling, and career endeavors.
